Remodelling Commission: Recycled Gold Diamond Ring
This ring was commissioned by a customer looking for some old gold and diamond rings to be remodelled into something she could wear everyday for her 25th wedding anniversary. It was important to Cat to keep the sentimental value of the old rings and so I removed the diamonds and then her gold was refined and formed into new sheet metal for the new ring, with a little extra recycled gold added to make up the weight.
Here is how the ring started out…
I carefully removed Cat’s diamonds, measured them and then sent her a design. We discussed different options for setting the central stone – Cat wanted something she could comfortably wear everyday and so it needed to be low profile – so I suggested a bezel set central stone set as low as possible with the smaller stones flush set along the band. With a brushed finish, the diamonds really pop!
Catriona Cummings – “Victoria has transformed three gold rings which were hugely sentimental to me, but which were sitting in a drawer, in to one beautiful ring to mark my 25th wedding anniversary. She came up with the perfect design, interpreting my wishes exactly, using all the existing gold and diamonds to create a stunning piece of recycled jewellery that I will wear forever and in the knowledge that there isn’t another one like it in the world! She kept me up to date with progress and even sent it to me to try for size before she completed it. I can’t thank her enough and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her workmanship and professionalism. ”
(and thank goodness she loved it, as it nearly gave us both heart failure after it spent a week down the back of a postal delivery bag in my local post office! Fortunately it was found and kept safe and eventually arrived safely…along with a few more grey hairs for me. Oh the joys of posting in the christmas rush.)
